FAMILY REUNIFICATION OF NON-EU CITIZENS
A non-EU citizen residing in Italy who has suitable accommodation and an adequate income can apply for family reunification with the following non-EU family members:
- Spouse not legally separated and not less than eighteen years of age;
- Minor childrenalso of the spouse or born out of wedlock, unmarried, provided that the other parent, if any, has given his or her consent;
- Dependent children over 18where, for objective reasons, they are unable to provide for their essential living needs on account of their state of health leading to total invalidity;
- Dependent parentsif they have no other children in their country of origin or provenance, or parents over 65if the other children are unable to support them for documented, serious health reasons.
FAMILY REUNIFICATION OF COMMUNITY CITIZENS
An Italian citizen or a citizen of another European Union country residing in Italy can apply for family reunification of the following non-EU family members:
- Spouse
- Direct descendants, including spouses, under the age of 21 or dependent
- Direct ascendants, including spouses, dependent
- Any other family members (e.g. brother, sister, brother-in-law), if they are dependants or cohabiters in the country of origin with the Italian citizen or if serious health reasons require the Italian citizen to assist him personally.
